Civitanova isn’t just a nice city of “sunny beaches”, but it’s a centre that can offer a lot to those who are looking for a moment of peace and relax different from the seaside resorts, or maybe after a day spent on the beach.

Cluana, today known as Civitanova Marche, was situated on the north side of the mouth of Cluentum river (Chienti river). On the hill, near Cluana, rose a small centre, Cluentis Vicus, which is now named Civitanova Alta.

 The most ancient decorative portrait in Civitanova Marche is the patron Saint Marone’s one. He’s a photometry and apostle from Piceno, whose image was placed on the banners of the city and in public deeds’ seals. Graces and miracles, taken place during the centuries until nowadays confirm the continuity of a cult emphasized just from the presence of the saint’s body. Popular tradition tells moreover about the strong devotion of local fishermen and sailors, who took part in religious processions and offered presents for thanking about escaped dangers in sea waters.
